Task
The task involved the planning and redevelopment of an internal business management software solution for a large association. The software was designed to manage contract and member data, along with the related processes and internal operational workflows. In particular, the entire payment processing workflow—including semi-automated handling of returned direct debits—was to be implemented in a future-oriented manner. Access to selected master data via mobile devices was also required.

Process
Following a detailed requirements analysis, the individual modules and features were identified and coordinated with the customer. Using an agile approach, these components were implemented, with specific customer requirements continuously incorporated into the development process.

Approach
First, the existing solution—based on an outdated and no longer maintainable development environment—was thoroughly analyzed. Subsequently, all internal processes, workflows, and requirements were examined and precisely specified. Due to the required redevelopment, a completely new and intuitive user interface was designed, based on modern and up-to-date usability principles. Each process was implemented as a separate module, enabling agile development and short release cycles. For mobile access, an SSL-encrypted interface via web services was planned.

Result
The multi-tier client-server application was developed using a state-of-the-art architecture based on established components. Its modular design simplifies maintenance and future enhancements, and thanks to its wide range of interfaces, it integrates seamlessly across departments into existing systems.
